Save the date for an exciting opportunity for undergraduate students!
- Are you curious about careers in science, museums, or research?
- Want to find an internship or fellowship in a STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, Math) field?
- Join us for a full day of hands-on learning, networking, and behind-the-scenes access to the Smithsonian!
- Meet museum professionals, explore natural history careers, and celebrate Earth Month.
Agenda
10:00 – 10:45 a.m.: Check-in/Welcome/Continental Breakfast (Participants will meet in the Constitution Ave. Lobby and be escorted to the workshop)
10:45 – 11:45 a.m.: Introduction to the Smithsonian and the National Museum of Natural History; presentation on internships, fellowships, and volunteer opportunities
11:45 a.m. – 1:30 p.m.: Career Shadowing Experiences* (small groups shadow NMNH employees into labs, collections areas or offices; expert-led tours may also be included)
1:30 – 2:30 p.m.: Catered Buffet Lunch/Break
2:30 – 3:30 p.m.: Panel Discussion and Q&A – Making of the Exhibition, Cellphone: Unseen Connections
3:30 – 4:30 p.m.: Expert-led tours of exhibitions: 1) Cellphone: Unseen Connections, 2) Earth Information Center, or 3) Lights Out: Recovering Our Night Sky (Students are escorted to the exhibitions, 2nd Floor)
4:30 p.m.: Program concludes and students are free to explore the museum

Students will choose from the behind-the-scenes experiences shown below, by selecting and ranking their choices. Experiences will fill on a first-registered, first-served basis.
