Beyond the Exhibition: What’s Inside your cellphone
After FiveThursday, April 24, 2025, 6:30 – 8:30pm EDT

What materials are inside your phone, where do they come from, and where do they go when you’re done with them? Join the National Museum of Natural History for a Beyond the Exhibition conversation about the 2nd floor exhibit, Cellphone: Unseen Connections from the perspectives of a minerologist and an anthropologist. Cellphone exhibit curator and anthropologist Josh Bell and NMNH mineral scientist Mike Wise discuss what materials make up our cellphones, sustainable possibilities for post-consumer use, and the people making it all happen. After the discussion, check out the exhibit after hours, play around with cellphone parts and try your hand at electronic waste art with Because Science and Circuit Breaker Labs.
This program is designed for adults. Registration is free and highly encouraged. Space is filled at a first come first served basis.
