Jennifer Collins is a Learning Experience Manager for Exhibits and Initiatives, and head of ocean programming at the museum. In this role she manages a team of educators who engage museum visitors, and other audiences in programming that connects people to NMNH science and the natural world. She oversees the Mesophotic Deep Benthic Communities Project Education Plan, the Sant Ocean Hall Education Plan, as well as Education Plans for Deep Time, Geology Gems and Minerals, and other permanent and temporary exhibits. With her particular interest in climate change, Jennifer spearheaded the establishment of the Smithsonian Climate Collaborators group and is an active member on related committees. Additionally, she manages the Science Liaison program that fosters collaboration between each of the museum research departments and education.
Prior to joining NMNH, Jennifer held previous position at the University of California Museum of Paleontology at Berkely, the Consortium of Ocean Leadership, and taught secondary science in both California and Virginia school districts.
