As a museum specialist, I provide research support for Dr. Scott Miller. My primary duties are to image and dissect the Geometridae (Lepidoptera) type specimens from the Papua New Guinea region which are held at The Natural History Museum in London. My duties include locating and positively identifying the type specimens in the collections; examining specimens and conducting dissections; micro-dissection and specialized mounting of specimens for microscopic analysis; selection and sampling of specimens for DNA analysis; microphotography of specimens using digital imaging equipment; coordination with other specialists and conducting literature searches and library research. I am also in charge of recording specimen data in a Microsoft Access database.
