Berit Kramer is a genomics technician in Invertebrate Zoology at the National Museum of Natural History. Her work focuses on using environmental DNA (eDNA) and vouchered museum specimens to categorize and explore biodiversity in ocean environments. She works alongside the Smithsonian Marine Station OcDNA team with the downstream laboratory processing of benthic sampling efforts in Florida’s Indian River Lagoon (IRL). Berit started as a research intern with Dr. Chris Meyer working on Autonomous Reef Monitoring Structures (ARMS).
