My research focuses on the study of the plant family Araliaceae combining phylogenomics, biogeographic, diversification, climatic, and functional trait analyses. My thesis dissertation investigated the evolutionary relationships of the genera within the most diverse clade of the family Araliaceae (Asian Palmate group) and the evolution and ecology of ivies in their natural habits in western Europe.
My postdoctoral project examines the influence of climate and biogeography in the evolution of two Araliaceae lineages: 1) the disjunct Asian-Neotropical genus Dendropanax, and 2) the genus of ivies (Hedera), with emphasis on Asian species and on the naturalized populations in the US.
