| Diminutive Woodrats are smaller than woodrats in the genus Neotoma. Nelsonia neotomodon has soft, grayish-brown fur, whitish underparts and feet, and a small tuft at the end of its tail. It lives in the rocks and cliffs of the mountains of western Mexico, in pine and fir forests. It has been found at elevations as high as 3,010 m. Presumably, like Nelsonia goldmani, it feeds mostly on the needles of fir and juniper trees. Little information is available about its lifestyle.
