| Although there is almost no specific information about this shrew, it is safe to say that like Cryptotis mexicana, it lives in humid mountain forests and is nocturnal and insectivorous. Like Cryptotis obscura, the Grizzled Mexican Small-eared Shrew, it was once classified as a subspecies of C. mexicana.
