Some meteorites do not fit easily into any of the major classifications. With its fragments of rock and metal, the beautiful Bencubbin meteorite resembles the mesosiderites but only superficially. Many of its rock fragments are similar to chondrite meteorites, unlike the mostly igneous material that is found in mesosiderites. Bencubbin is another of the seemingly endless varieties of rock mixtures produced by impacts on asteroids.
