The tiara bracelet was created by jewelry designer Cynthia Bach, who studied royal jewelry throughout history to create her crown collection. The designs include crown brooches, rings, bracelets and earrings. Her work is influenced by European regalia, art and architecture. She apprenticed in Europe studying metalworking. The tiara is a hinged bangle with round brilliant cut and marquise cut diamonds, totaling 3.21ct, set in the fabric-like surface of the platinum bracelet. To reflect the rich brocades and laces worn by European royalty over the past 400 years, Ms. Bach utilized several metalsmithing techniques in the design, including gadrooning (grooves), granulation (beading) and hand engraving. The tiara bracelet was worn by actress Salma Hayek as an hair ornament for the White House Correspondents’ Association Dinner during the Clinton Administration in 1989. It was also part of a traveling exhibit, “The Nature of Diamonds,” organized by the American Museum of Natural History in collaboration with the Field Museum, the Royal Ontario Museum, and the Houston Museum of Natural Science. The Tiara Diamond Bracelet was gifted to the National Gem Collection in 2012.
