Diamond and Sapphire Ring | NMNH G8503 | Unknown | 5.32 ct |
Gift of Burstein family in 1980.
This ring was given to the Smithsonian in 1980 by the Burstein family. It features an amazing emerald-cut diamond that weighs 5.32cts and a step-cut blue sapphire that weighs 8.12cts. The gems are set side-by-side, accented with tapered baguette cut diamonds in a platinum ring mounting. The diamond is very high quality and the sapphire is special due to its cut and the beautiful deep blue color. This 2-stone ring is a very sophisticated, unusual, modern look; a classic design that was popular from the 1970s to 1980s and was most likely fabricated during that period.
