Life on a Sustainable Planet: Exploring and Understanding Our Natural World
Thursday, April 18, 10:30 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. in Baird Auditorium, Ground Floor, Hybrid Event*
In celebration of Earth Day 2024, alumni of the NMNH Peter Buck Postdoctoral Fellowship program will present short talks related to their own science journeys. The symposium will offer an opportunity for the Smithsonian Science community and the public to network and hear from science leaders of the future on how their work is contributing to exploring and understanding our natural world.

Natural Science Careers Workshop for Undergraduate Students

- Do you want to pursue a career in biodiversity, conservation, or environmental science but want to learn more?
Join us for a free workshop to learn about, and prepare for, careers in natural science. The full-day workshop, including a catered lunch and reception, is designed to help you learn about navigating a pathway to the career you want. Attendees will have an opportunity to network with natural science professionals, learn about internship and fellowship opportunities, and experience what it’s like to work behind-the-scenes at the National Museum of Natural History.
The World & Me Family Program: Exploring Earth’s Diversity
Saturday, April 20, 10:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. in Q?rius, with supplemental activities
Join us for a special The World & Me as we celebrate diversity found in nature, movement, and the planet we call home with local dancers from Company | E, musicians from Sound Impact, science students from local colleges, and educators from the National Museum of Natural History. Watch a performance titled Letters to Earth and explore different hands-on activities with museum specimens, microscopes, and more, to learn about DNA and some of the tiny and large organisms we share the Earth with.
Join us for three days of discovery and celebration!
