Junko Chinen is the Acting Assistant Director of Exhibits and Chief of Exhibit Development and Project Management in the Office of Exhibits at the National Museum of Natural History. She has more than a decade of experience in exhibit development and production and currently oversees a team of exhibit developers and project managers, guiding best practices in content development, planning, and project management.
She has served as lead Project Manager for multiple major permanent halls as well as temporary exhibitions, overseeing all aspects of content development, construction, multimedia, and lighting production. She has also contributed to a wide range of additional permanent and temporary exhibits across the museum. Throughout her career, Ms. Chinen has developed comprehensive expertise across all phases of exhibit development and production. She holds a Master of Arts in Museum Studies from The George Washington University and a Bachelor’s degree in Linguistics from the University of the Ryukyus in Japan.
