As a public health precaution due to COVID-19, all Smithsonian museums are temporarily closed. We are not announcing a reopening date at this time and will provide updates on our websites and social media.
The LabRAM HR Evolution Raman microscope is configured for confocal imaging in 2D and 3D. The microscope currently has 300, 600, 1200, and 1800 g/mm gratings and is equipped with three wavelengths of excitation lasers (405nm, 532nm, 785nm). It is also equipped with a Synapse detector that is thermoelectrically cooled to -70C. With the motorized stage and Duo Scan capabilities detailed 3D maps can be generated. The microscope’s LabSpec6 software is very user friendly and is linked directly to BioRad’s KnowItAll software for quick comparison to and searching of the available spectral libraries. Typical samples include liquids, powders, unprepared surfaces, and polished sections.
