| Nelson’s Spiny Pocket Mouse is a relatively large, gray pocket mouse. The spines, or bristles, of this pocket mouse's fur are soft rather than stiff. It is known only from a few cloud forests in southern Chiapas, Mexico, and western Guatemala, and is considered critically endangered. Little is known about its natural history.
