| This endangered bat, the smallest bat in the genus Rhogeessa, looks almost identical to the Little Yellow Bat, but is genetically distinct. It is known only from a small, semi-arid area in the state of Michoacan, Mexico, where it has been mist-netted over water sources. The scientific name “mira” comes from the Latin word mirus, meaning wonderful or astonishing, but all the astonishing details of its life remain to be learned.
Total Length: 60-70 mm; Tail: 27-32 mm
