Owl mask. This mask was collected by E.W. Nelson in Sabotnisky, ca. 1880. Nelson, an ethnographer, classified it as an inua or "animal helper" spirit mask. The mask has a beak nose, crescent eyes, a crescent mouth and originally had three feathers. It is painted with black dots in the lighter area and white and red dots in the dark area.
