Toltec Cotton Rat

Order: Rodentia
Family: Cricetidae

Conservation Status: Least Concern.

Toltec Cotton Rats are found in the lowlands and foothills of eastern Mexico, on the Yucatan Peninsula, and in northern Guatemala. Like other cotton rats, they are stocky, medium-sized animals with somewhat harsh fur. They tend to need grass in their habitat, but are able to eat a variety of foods, which gives them flexibility about where they can live.
