| Ixtlán Deermice are found high in the Sierra de Juárez mountains of Oaxaca, Mexico, at elevations of 2,350 to 3,150 m. They are closely related to Zempoaltepec Deermice, which are found at similar elevations on other mountains in Oaxaca. However, these deermice have been physically separated from each other for so long that they have evolved into separate species. Like all deermice, they have big eyes and ears.
Head and body 80-140 mm; Tail 87-145 mm
